  Level I focuses on: Open face felling & development of techniques to safely use it
    (1) personal protective equipment
    (2) chainsaw safety features
    (3) chainsaw reactive forces
    (4) bore cutting
    (5) pre-planning the fell
    (6) Understanding hinge wood strength

    Individuals will be responsible to provide their own chain saw, helmet, boots, chaps, safety glasses or face screen, ear muffs or plugs, and to dress for the weather. Participants should pack a brown bag lunch and enough water for the day.  Registration begins at 7:30 am promptly @ CFA’s office 43469 State Highway 28, Arkville NY 12406; then we will proceed to the course site.

    We require 10 participants to hold this class; so register & pay early; classes fill up quickly. Pre-payment is required and will secure a place in the class. Class fee for level 1 is: $135 for CFA members and $150 for non CFA members.
